The Only Way To Predict Your Future
It’s impossible to predict your future with 100% accuracy. We simply have no way of knowing what we’re going to encounter. While we don’t know the future; we do know the God who does.
The only way to guarantee your future is to make a down payment today. The best way to reap a harvest tomorrow is to sow seed today.
The only way to predict your future is by sowing toward it. You can’t reap a harvest where you haven’t sown.
The Bible is clear about sowing and reaping in our lives. Whatever we sow is what we’ll reap. Galatians 6:7
Recently, the Lord reminded me of this principle. Two weeks ago my family and I were at a local fast food restaurant. While we were there I looked out the drive through window and saw two of the students from our college. Before they could see me I told the lady behind the counter that I wanted to pay for their food. You would have thought I spoke a foreign language to the lady. She just looked at me in astonishment.
I paid for their food because I simply wanted to bless them. They are two great students and I wanted my gift to be a physical expression of God’s love for them. I wasn’t doing it to be seen or to earn something from God.
Two weeks later my family and I were eating at another restaurant in town. I was getting ready to go out of town and I thought going out to eat would be an easy way to spend time together. It would also be a blessing for my pregnant wife because she wouldn’t have to cook anything that evening. As we were winding down our meal the waitress came by and said someone had already paid for our meal.
I was shocked and then the Lord reminded me of two weeks ago when I took the time to bless two college students. It’s true, you can’t out give God. He always has a way of making it up to us. It sounds funny that I sowed two meals for two college students and then I reaped 4 meals for my family. That’s a pretty good return on my seed.
